Indian women topped the medal tally at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships, winning 10 medals including 4 πŸ₯‡, 2 πŸ₯ˆ and 4 πŸ₯‰.
List of medal winners
πŸ₯‡ Meenakshi Hooda (48 kg)
πŸ₯‡ Preeti Pawar (54 kg)
πŸ₯‡ Priya G****has (60 kg)
πŸ₯‡ Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg)
πŸ₯ˆ Jaismine Lamboriya (57 kg)
πŸ₯ˆ Alfiya Pathan (80+ kg)
πŸ₯‰ Nikhat Zareen (51 kg)
πŸ₯‰ Ankushita Boro (65 kg)
πŸ₯‰ Lovlina Borgohain (75 kg)
πŸ₯‰ Pooja Rani (80 kg)
7 of these weight categories will be part of LA 2028 Olympics: 51 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg and 75 kg.
The field varied across categories, being strong in some and relatively light in others. Preeti Pawar’s win over a three time world champion stands out as a major result, while Meenakshi Hooda, a current world champion, backed it up with a gold here as well. Jaismine Lamboriya, another reigning world champion, had to settle for silver after falling short in the final.
Overall, this is a very good result for Indian women’s boxing. However, consistency will be key going forward. With the Asian Games coming up later this year, that will be the next big test for this group.
