RECOMMENDATION PART 1

Our age old Religious relics and stories are always an ever green topic! When film and television decides to weave these narratives on celluloid it comes across as an impactful form of re-living these stories as well as an opportunity for the younger generation to become acquainted with their roots.

If you too are a lover of religious tales, or would like to introduce a young one to it, here are some solid recommendations that you will love!

1) Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan - No list can ever be complete without this telling of the Epic tale of Prince Ram. It aired on television between 1987-1988 originally. However, it is relevant and revered even today. the beauty, simplicity and purity of the narrative is top notch. If you have not watched it yet, you can stream it on Prime Video.

2) Ramayan: The Legend of Prince Ram: This 1992 animation film was produced and directed by Yugo Sako , a Japanese filmmaker. So many of us have grown up watching this on out tv screen and singing Shri Raghuvar ki vanar sena while it plays out on the screen. The animation that was used in the film all the way back in the early 1990’s is still far better than some latest ones. It is a must watch film for young children.

3) Siya Ke Ram : This was television show that aired between 2015-16. However, it is available for streaming on Hotstar. This tells the epic take of Shri Ram and Mata Sita in great detail. The dialogues and performances are the highlight of this telling of Ramayan.

4) The Legend of Hanuman Part 1: This animated series is available for streaming on Hotstar. Although the focus of this series is Lord Hanuman, it still includes the tale of Ramyan and shows the epic love Lord Hanuman carries for Bhagwan Shri Ram.
