The ancient city of Varanasi has firmly emerged as a global tourism powerhouse, registering record-breaking footfall in 2025.
Official figures show that over 454.48 million tourists visited Kashi between 2014 and September 2025, with a historic 146.97 million visitors in 2025 alone a massive rise from 5.48 million in 2014.
The transformation is credited to sustained development since Narendra Modi became MP from Varanasi and Yogi Adityanath assumed office.
Major projects such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, improved connectivity, ghat beautification, and river cruises have significantly enhanced the city’s appeal, boosting tourism and driving economic growth across sectors.
