Japan has set a new world record for internet speed, achieving an astonishing 1.02 petabits per second in a laboratory test. The breakthrough was announced by researchers at the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). To put it into perspective, one petabit equals one million gigabits — meaning this speed could theoretically download millions of HD movies in just one second.
