The India Pavilion was officially inaugurated on April 21, 2026, marking India’s prestigious role as the Guest of Honour Country at the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo). The ceremony was led by Ms. Yannai Kadamani Fonrodona, Minister of Culture, Arts and Knowledge, Colombia, H.E. Vanlalhuma, Honourable Ambassador of India to Colombia and NBT-India Chairman and Leader of Indian Delegation Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe.
The 3,000-square-meter India Pavilion—organized by the Ministry of Education in association with the Embassy of India, Bogota with National Book Trust, India as the implementing agency—serves as a vibrant "home-like sanctuary" inspired by iconic Indian architecture like the Amber Fort and Hampi Bazaar. Under the evocative slogan "Read and Explore India," the pavilion invites visitors to discover the many dimensions of India through its literary and cultural showcases.
In her remarks, the Minister highlighted the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of India and how the participation of India as the Guest of Honour country will go a long way in enriching a better literary and cultural understanding between India and Colombia, in particular, and with Latin America, in general.
