new laboratory study suggests that tamarind - a fruit widely consumed in Asia and Africa - may help the body remove microplastics.

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles that have already been found in human blood, organs, and even brain tissue. The body has difficulty naturally eliminating them, and they may pose long-term health risks.

Researchers discovered that certain compounds in tamarind seeds are able to bind to microplastic particles, potentially helping the body collect and eliminate them.

Under controlled experimental conditions, participants who consumed tamarind extract showed higher levels of microplastic elimination compared to the control group.

The research was conducted by scientists from Tarleton State University (Texas), who are studying plant compounds that may help cleanse the body of microplastics.
