The Vijay government in Tamil Nadu has received a major setback from the Madras High Court. The court has quashed the order regarding providing government jobs to the families of those killed in the stampede that occurred in Karur last year. The court stated that the order to provide government jobs to the families of those killed in the stampede violates Articles 14 and 16 of the Constitution. Last year in September, a stampede broke out during a TVK rally in Karur district. A large number of people had gathered there to hear Vijay. This incident resulted in the deaths of 41 people and injuries to several others. The CBI is investigating the case.
