Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (Posthumous) for exceptional bravery during the Indo-Pak War of 1965. As Commanding Officer of 17 Horse (Poona Horse) in the Sialkot Sector, he led the troops along the Kaloi–Phillora axis despite fierce enemy resistance. Inspired by his leadership, the regiment destroyed 60 enemy tanks during the six-day battle. His tank was hit several times, yet Lt Col Tarapore continued to lead from the front until he succumbed to his injuries on 16 September 1965.
