On this day in 1965, Air Marshal Arjan Singh ordered air strikes against the Pakistan Forces. Just before sunset, 26 IAF fighter-****ers - 12 Vampires of No. 45 Squadron and 14 Mystères of Nos. 3 & 31 Squadrons, took off from Pathankot for the Chhamb sector.
The mission marked the beginning of Indian air action, with the IAF destroying 10 tanks, 2 anti-aircraft ****s and 30-40 Pakistani Army vehicles.
