जब बिजली ईजाद नहीं हुई और सीलिंग फैन वग़ैरह की कल्पना भी नहीं की जा सकती थी तब "अंग्रेज़ बहादुर" खास टाइप का कपड़ा कमरे में लटका कर उसकी डोरी कमरे के बाहर ग़ुलामों के पैरों में बांध दिया करते थे और बारी-बारी दिन रात अपने पैरों को हिलाते रहना ग़ुलामों का काम होता था...इस बात का ख़ास़ ख़याल रखा जाता था कि ग़ुलाम कान से बहरे हों ताकि उनकी बातों को सुन ना सकें...
अंग्रेज़ों के ज़माने में ICS अधिकारी रहे "क़ुदरतुल्ला शहाब" अपनी किताब 'शहाब नामा' में लिखते हैं कि जब उन ग़ुलामों को नींद लगती तो अंग्रेज़ कमरे से निकल कर जूते पहनकर पेट पर वह़शियों की तरह वार करते थे जिससे गुलामों के पेट फटकर आतड़ियां तक बाहर आ जाती थीं और वह मर जाते थे...जुर्माने के तौर उस अंग्रेज़ से ब्रिटिश अदालत मात्र 2₹ वसूल करती थी...ना जेल ना ही कोई और सज़ा...
इन्हीं की औलादें आज हमें "इंसानियत का मंजन" बेचती हैं..😠
