यह #घटना उस समय की है जब नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र बोस ने विदेश जाकर देश को आजाद कराने के लिए आजाद हिंद फौज के गठन का कार्य प्रारंभ किया।
उसी दौरान उन्होंने रेडियो प्रसारण पर एक आह्वान किया था कि "हम अपनी स्वतंत्रता का मूल्य अपने रक्त से चुकाएंगे"
उस समय वे बर्मा मे थे।
आजाद हिंद फौज के गठन व युवाओं को भरती करने के लिए उन्होंने अपना एक कमांडर भारत में नियुक्त किया.. कैप्टन ढिल्लों।
कैप्टन को विशेष निर्देश दिए कि ऐसे युवक को फौज में भर्ती न किया जाए जो अपने माता-पिता का इकलौता पुत्र हो। उपयुक्त नियम का सख्ती से पालन करना है...
उस दिन कैप्टन ढिल्लों भर्ती होने के लिए सैकड़ों युवक जो पंक्ति मे खड़े थे उनका शारीरिक नापजोख करते थे और उनसे अंत में एक प्रश्न पूछते थे कि क्या आप अपने माता-पिता के इकलौते पुत्र हो?
उपयुक्त उत्तर मिलने पर भर्ती कर लिया जाता था उस दिन उन्होंने अन्य युवकों की भांति एक युवक की छाती को मापकर तोल लेने वाली मशीन पर उसका वजन लिया, सब कुछ ठीक-ठाक पाया, वह युवक फौज में ले लिए जाने की आशा से मुस्कुरा रहा था अंत में कैप्टन ढिल्लो ने उससे पूछा..
तुम्हारे ओर कितने भाई हैं?
उस नौजवान ने कहा " मैं तो अकेला हूं, मेरे पिता भी इस समय जीवित नहीं है घर में सिर्फ मेरी मां है"
"क्या करते हो तुम" कैप्टन ढिल्लों ने पूछा..
"मैं गाय भैंस पालता हूं खेती भी करता हूं"
"हिंदुस्तान में कहां के रहने वाले हो" ?
"पंजाब(आज का हरियाणा) से हूँ"
तुम्हारा नाम?
"अर्जुन सिंह"
कैप्टन ढिल्लो ने कुछ उदास होकर कहा..
अर्जुन सिंह मुझे अफसोस है कि तुम्हें फौज में नहीं लिया जा सकता मुझे तुम्हारी देशभक्ति पर कोई संदेह नहीं है लेकिन तुम अपनी मां के अकेले बेटे हो, जाओ अपना खेत और अपने पशुओं को संभालो मां की सेवा करो अर्जुन की खुशी उदासी में बदल गई...
वह घर लौटा तो मां ने पूछा क्यों अर्जुन तुम तो आजाद हिंद सेना में गए थे भर्ती होने इतनी जल्दी आ गए क्या?
अर्जुन सिंह ने अपनी बूढ़ी मां को सब कुछ बता दिया..
सुनकर मां शांत होकर बोली घबराओ मत बेटे एक-दो दिन बाद फौज में तुम जरूर जाना तुम ले लिए जाओगे तुम देश के सच्चे सपूत बनकर दिखाओ, दिल को छोटा मत करो।
तीसरे दिन पुनः अर्जुन सिंह फौज में भर्ती होने वाले युवकों की पंक्ति में खड़ा था... सामने से आते ही कैप्टन ढिल्लों ने उसे पहचान लिया और बोला कि तुम फिर आ गए तुम्हें याद नहीं है... मैंने तुम्हें क्या कहा था,,
अर्जुन सिंह ने भरे हुए गले से कहा..
"कैप्टन साहब मुझे आपकी बात खूब याद है किंतु मेरी बूढ़ी मां ने कुएं में कूदकर अपनी जान ही दे दी, कुएं में कूदने के पहली रात को उसने मुझसे कहा था कि यह मेरे लिए बड़ी लज्जा की बात है कि मेरे कारण से तुम आजाद हिंद सेना में नहीं लिए जा सके नेताजी का सहयोगी बनकर देश के काम नहीं आ सके"...
इतना सुनते ही कैप्टन ढिल्लो की आंखों में आंसू भर गए उन्होंने उसी समय अर्जुन को भर्ती कर लिया और 2 दिन बाद जब सुभाष बाबू निरीक्षण के लिए आए तो कैप्टन ने अर्जुन को नेताजी से मिलवाया।
अर्जुन सिंह को देखकर नेता जी ने कहा की अपने राष्ट्र की स्वतंत्रता के लिए हमें यह जीवन अंतिम सांस तक दुश्मन से लड़ते हुए मोर्चे पर बिताना है इसमें यदि हमारी मृत्यु भी होती है तो भी पीछे नहीं हटना है...
अर्जुन सिंह ने नेताजी को वचन दिया और अपना वादा निभाया मोर्चे पर वह तब तक लड़ता रहा जब तक कि उसकी राइफल में एक भी गोली बाकी थी..
अर्जुन सिंह के शहीद होने का समाचार नेताजी सुभाष को जब मिला तो वे स्वयं गये जहां अर्जुन सिंह की मे स्मृति में एक छोटा सा स्मारक उन्होंने बनवाया और उस पर उन्होंने लिखा था "मृत्यु से खेलने वाले इन मां और पुत्र दोनों को मेरा प्रणाम"....
ऐसे ऐसे महान रत्नों को खोकर मिली आजादी का श्रेय कुछ स्वार्थी लोगो ने गांधी की झूठी अहिंसा को दे दिया...
जिन नेताजी ने गांधी का सम्मान करते हुए उन्हें "राष्ट्रपिता" कह दिया था उस गांधी ने ही हस्ताक्षर कर नेहरू व जिन्ना दोनों की मनोकामना पूरी कर भारत को टुकड़े टुकड़े कर दिया।
