Chandrashekhar Vaidya played the role of Sumant in Ramanand Sagar’s iconic TV serial “Ramayan” (1987–1988).
Sumant was the wise and loyal minister of King Dasharath in Ayodhya. His character was portrayed as a man of principles, always devoted to dharma and righteousness. In the storyline, when Queen Kaikeyi demanded that Lord Ram be sent into exile and Bharata be crowned king, Sumant tried to reason with King Dasharath. Later, he also encouraged Bharata to go to the forest and bring Ram back to Ayodhya.
