पहली फ़ोटो में दिख रहा इंसान 'सोबरन' हैं! सब्जी बेचते हैं, असम के तिनसुखिया जिले में रहते हैं। जब ये 30 वर्ष के थे, तब कचरे के डिब्बे में इन्हें एक बच्ची रोती हुई मिली थी। दूसरे फोटो दिख रही प्यारी सी लड़की वही बच्ची है...
कचरे में पड़ी उस मासूम को जब सोबरन घर लाये, तब उनकी शादी नहीं हुई थी। सोबरन ने तय किया कि वे उस मासूम को पालेंगे, पढ़ाएंगे, अपनी शादी नहीं करेंगे और इस तरह उन्होंने उस बिटिया का नाम रखा "ज्योति"!!!
सोबरन सब्जी बेचते, दिन-रात मेहनत करते और बिटिया रानी मन लगाकर पढ़ती रहती। वही ज्योति 25 साल की हो गई है। 2013 में ज्योति ने कंप्यूटर साइंस से ग्रेजुएशन किया और 2014 में असम पब्लिक सर्विस कमीशन में सेलेक्ट हुईं।आज ज्योति असम में इनकम टैक्स असिस्टेन्ट कमिश्नर के पद पर कार्यरत हैं !!
आज जब सोबरन से पूछेंगे कि क्या आपको उस वक़्त लगता था कि जिस बच्ची को आप पाल-पोश रहे हैं, पढ़ा-लिखा रहे हैं, वो इतनी कामयाब भी होगी?
तब वो कहते हैं, "मुझे बस इतना पता है कि मुझे कोयले की खान से एक हीरा मिला था.."।
जात, पात, धर्म, द्वेष, हिंसा, क्रूरता, घमंड, अहंकार से ऊपर उठकर जीने वाले सोबरन। जीवन को जीने का रास्ता दिखाते सोबरन!!
