Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (

) has taken a big step towards ensuring clean and safe food in our country. So far, more than 3 lakh street food vendors have been trained to maintain hygiene and serve better quality food to people.

Under the Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) program, a special course called Street Food Vending was designed to train vendors and their staff in essential food safety practices. As part of the Eat Right India movement, FSSAI also runs the Eat Right Street Food Hub certification program to promote hygiene and safety in street food. To date, 405 such hubs have been certified across the country.
