उत्तर प्रदेश के बुलंदशहर के रहने वाले मानवेंद्र सिंह ने शारीरिक अक्षमता के बावजूद भारतीय इंजीनियरिंग सेवा (IES) परीक्षा में 112वीं रैंक हासिल कर जिले का नाम रोशन किया है। पिता के निधन के बाद आए पारिवारिक संकटों के बीच, उनकी प्रधानाचार्य मां और नानी के सहयोग ने उन्हें निरंतर प्रेरित किया।
मानवेंद्र ने अपनी नानी के घर रहकर कठिन संघर्ष किया, JEE परीक्षा पास की और IIT पटना से बीटेक की डिग्री हासिल की। बीटेक की पढ़ाई के दौरान ही उन्होंने अधिकारी बनने का लक्ष्य तय किया था। उन्होंने अपनी इस उपलब्धि का श्रेय अपने माता-पिता, गुरुजनों और परिजनों के मार्गदर्शन को दिया है।

उत्तर प्रदेश के अमरोहा में फास्ट फूड के अत्यधिक सेवन से 11वीं कक्षा की एक 16 वर्षीय छात्रा की मौत हो गई। परिजनों के अनुसार छात्रा को रोजाना चाउमीन, बर्गर और पिज्जा जैसा बाहर का खाना खाने का शौक था जिसके कारण उसकी आंतों में छेद हो गए और गंभीर संक्रमण फैल गया।

डेढ़ महीने पहले पेट दर्द की शिकायत पर उसे मुरादाबाद के अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था, जहां 30 नवंबर को उसका ऑपरेशन भी हुआ। हालत बिगड़ने पर उसे दिल्ली एम्स ले जाया गया लेकिन इलाज के दौरान सोमवार को उसने दम तोड़ दिया। डॉक्टरों के मुताबिक आंतों का संक्रमण फेफड़ों तक फैल गया था जिससे हार्ट फेल होने से उसकी जान गई।
