Bhushan Kumar opened up recently about the biopic on his father, the late music baron Gulshan Kumar, and said that it has been getting delayed due to some reservations from the family. Aamir Khan has been roped in to play the lead role in the film.
In an interaction with Connect Cine, Bhushan said, “We are still writing it. We were ready with it earlier, it was superb, even though we officially didn’t announce everyone knew that Aamir Khan was going to be a part of it. He still wants to, he always tells me, it is the best script he has read in recent times. But there were some reservations from the family about it, especially from my mother, she wanted to tell the story from one perspective and we wrote the script from another perspective.”
He added that he cannot make the film on his father if his mother is not convinced with it. “Once she is convinced, which she will eventually do, the world will get to witness a very inspiring story. For now, we are reworking the script. We are not whitewashing it, just revamping a few things. My mother also wants the world to know some stories about him that a lot of people don’t know.”
Gulshan Kumar started T-series in 1983 and the brand saw a steep rise in the 1990s as the company started producing films and became a significant name in the industry. Gulshan was ****ed by the underworld in 1997 at the age of 46 and since then, Bhushan has taken over as the lead in T-series.
Bhushan’s latest production was the Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which clashed at the box-office with Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again.
