भारत की प्रसिद्ध खगोल वैज्ञानिक डॉ. अन्नपूर्णी सुब्रमण्यम ने इतिहास रच दिया है।
उन्हें COSPAR विक्रम साराभाई मेडल 2026 से सम्मानित किया गया है। वे यह प्रतिष्ठित सम्मान पाने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला वैज्ञानिक बन गई हैं।
डॉ. अन्नपूर्णी वर्तमान में इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ एस्ट्रोफिजिक्स (IIA), बेंगलुरु की निदेशक हैं। उन्होंने तारों, तारागुच्छों और निकटवर्ती आकाशगंगाओं पर महत्वपूर्ण शोध किया है। इसके अलावा भारत के पहले अंतरिक्ष वेधशाला मिशन एस्ट्रोसैट में भी उनकी अहम भूमिका रही है।
यह सम्मान अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान के क्षेत्र में भारत की बढ़ती वैज्ञानिक उपलब्धियों का भी प्रतीक है।
