In a significant religious and administrative update for 2026, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has formally passed a resolution prohibiting the entry of non-Hindus (non-Sanatanis) into the Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines.
This decision, aimed at preserving the "sanctity and ancient Vedic traditions" of the Himalayan sites, applies to 47 temples under the committee's jurisdiction. Similar restrictions have also been implemented by the Gangotri Temple Committee. As the 2026 Char Dham Yatra begins in April, authorities have also made online registration mandatory for all pilgrims to streamline the new entry protocols.
