यह दोहा वृन्दावन के प्रसिद्ध संत ग्वारिया बाबा और श्री बांके बिहारी जी के बीच के 'सख्य भाव' (मित्रता) पर आधारित है। ग्वारिया बाबा बिहारी जो अपना सखा मानते थे और सबसे यही कहते थे की "मैं तो अपने यार के साथ गाय चराता था" , जब ग्वारिया बाबा द्वारा प्रेम से अर्पित किए गए मोदकों को खाने के लिए ठाकुर जी स्वयं मंदिर के पट छोड़कर बाहर आ गए, उस अलौकिक घटना को यह पंक्तियाँ जीवंत करती हैं।
व्याख्या
पंक्ति 1: "अधरों पर जूठन लगी, प्रेम भाव का सार।"
अर्थ: जब मंदिर के पुजारी (गौसाईं जी) ने पट खुलने पर ठाकुर जी के दर्शन किए, तो देखा कि उनके होठों (अधरों) पर मोदक के अंश (जूठन) लगे हुए थे।
भाव: यह जूठन कोई साधारण भोजन का अवशेष नहीं था, बल्कि यह "प्रेम भाव का सार" था। यह इस बात का प्रमाण था कि ईश्वर को सोने के थाल में चढ़ाए गए छप्पन भोग से अधिक प्रिय भक्त के फटे हुए कंबल पर बैठकर खाए गए सादे मोदक हैं।
पंक्ति 2: "कान्हा वश में प्रेम के, भूल गए दरबार।।"
अर्थ: भगवान कृष्ण (कान्हा) केवल और केवल प्रेम के वशीभूत हैं। ग्वारिया बाबा के निस्वार्थ प्रेम में वे इतने खो गए कि उन्हें अपने भव्य मंदिर, अपनी मर्यादा और अपने 'दरबार' (राजसी स्वरूप) का भी ध्यान नहीं रहा।
भाव: यहाँ 'दरबार भूलने' का अर्थ है कि भगवान ने भक्त की पुकार पर अपनी ईश्वरीय श्रेष्ठता को त्याग दिया और एक साधारण मित्र की भाँति बाबा के साथ बैठकर सुख बाँटा।
