फाजिल्का के अरनीवाला-कटैहड़ा क्षेत्र में नहरों का पानी काला और जहरीला हो गया है. इसका मुख्य कारण पाकिस्तान की चमड़ा फैक्ट्रियों से आने वाला प्रदूषित पानी है. इससे वहां के स्थानीय लोग बीमारियों से ग्रस्त हो रहे हैं और उन्हें पीने योग्य पानी नहीं मिल रहा. लोग साफ पानी के लिए तरस रहे हैं और सरकार से आरओ प्लांट लगाने की मांग कर रहे हैं, क्योंकि जमीन का पानी भी साफ नहीं है.

श्री आदिशंकराचार्य जी का जन्म वैशाख शुक्ल पंचमी के दिन केरल के कालड़ी में हुआ था, इसी उपलक्ष्य में वैशाख मास की शुक्ल पंचमी के दिन श्री आदि गुरु शंकराचार्य जी का प्राकट्योत्सव मनाया जाता है।
आदिगुरु शंकराचार्य का व्यक्तित्व अलौकिक गुणों से युक्त था, मात्र आठ वर्ष की आयु में चारों वेदों का ज्ञान अर्जित करने वाले श्री आदिशंकराचार्य जी ने 16 वर्ष की आयु में उपनिषदों पर भाष्य लिखकर अपनी विद्वता का परिचय दिया।
वे अद्वैत वेदान्त के संस्थापक थे और उनका जीवन सनातन धर्म के पुनरुत्थान को समर्पित था, उनके प्रयासों ने हिन्दू धर्म को एक नई दिशा दी और स्मार्त सम्प्रदाय में इन्हें भगवान शंकर का अवतार माना जाता है।

Gujarat के छात्रों ने विज्ञान की दुनिया में बड़ी उपलब्धि हासिल की है। MK Amin College के बीएससी माइक्रोबायोलॉजी के छात्रों अर्नव धामधरे और हरिओम पाठक ने समुद्री पानी में ऐसे बैक्टीरिया खोजे हैं, जो अंधेरे में खुद रोशनी पैदा करते हैं। यह खोज करीब 11 महीने की लगातार रिसर्च और लैब में मेहनत के बाद संभव हो पाई।

इन बैक्टीरिया को Bioluminescence कहा जाता है, जो समुद्र में रात के समय चमक पैदा करते हैं। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार, इनका इस्तेमाल भविष्य में पर्यावरण संरक्षण, प्रदूषण की निगरानी और बायो-इंडिकेटर के रूप में किया जा सकता है। यह उपलब्धि दिखाती है कि युवा शोधकर्ता भी सीमित संसाधनों में बड़ी वैज्ञानिक खोज कर सकते हैं।
