यूक्रेन और रूस की लड़ाई ने यूक्रेन में फूड सप्लाई चेन को बुरी तरह ध्वस्त कर दिया है. यूक्रेन की ओर से लड़ रहे कई सैनिकों को 10 से 15 दिनों तक खाना नहीं मिल रहा है. चार बेहद दुबले-पतले सैनिकों की दर्दनाक याचिकाओं और उनकी तस्वीरों ने अप्रैल के अंत में यूक्रेन में तहलका मचा दिया था. बताया गया कि ये सैनिक फ्रंटलाइन पर 17 दिनों तक बिना खाने के रह गए थे और कई महीनों से उनकी छुट्टी या रोटेशन नहीं हुई थी.

ये सैनिक बिना भोजन के ड्यूटी पर तैनात थे. स्थिति ऐसी हो गई थी कि ये सैनिक भूख से बेहोश हो रहे थे और बारिश का पानी पी रहे थे.

अनास्तासिया सिलचुक जिनके पति 14वीं मैकेनाइज्ड ब्रिगेड में काम करते हैं, ने 22 अप्रैल को सोशल मीडिया पर कहा, "सैनिक भूख से बेहोश हो रहे थे, वे बारिश का पानी पीने को मजबूर थे.यूक्रेन में जंग के मोर्चे पर तैनात सैनिकों की कहानियों पर अल जजीरा ने एक लंबी रिपोर्ट जारी की है.

यूक्रेन के ये लड़ाके दक्षिण-पूर्वी डोनेट्स्क इलाके में ओस्किल नदी के पास एक स्थान पर छिपे हुए थे. रूसी बमों ने इन सैनिकों के ब्रिगेड पर बमों से हमला किया था और एक अहम पुल को तोड़ दिया था. सिलचुक ने लिखा, "रेडियो पर उनकी बात नहीं सुनी गई, या शायद कोई उन्हें सुनना नहीं चाहता था. मेरे पति चिल्लाए और गिड़गिड़ाए, उन्होंने कहा कि हमारे पास खाना और पानी नहीं है."
