India’s Parliament may soon see a significant c****e in the way it functions, with the Lok Sabha expected to introduce stricter rules to improve discipline, attendance, and accountability among Members of Parliament.

Under the proposed system, an MP’s attendance will be counted as “Present” only if the member is physically inside the House and seated in their designated seat during proceedings. Simply signing attendance registers outside the chamber will no longer be considered valid. As part of this reform, the traditional registers placed outside the House may also be removed.

According to the proposal, if an MP arrives after the House has already been adjourned for the day, their attendance for that session will not be recorded. In such situations, the member could also lose the salary, allowances, and other benefits linked to that day’s sitting.

The initiative aims to encourage stronger participation in debates, discussions, and legislative work, ensuring that elected representatives are actively present during parliamentary sessions. The Lok Sabha Speaker has emphasized that physical presence in the chamber will be necessary for attendance to be officially recognized.

If implemented, the reform could become an important step toward strengthening parliamentary discipline and promoting more active participation in India’s legislative process.

Italy plans to release nearly 9 million barrels of oil from its strategic reserves as part of a large coordinated move organized by the International Energy Agency. Altogether, about 400 million barrels will be released by 32 member countries to help control rising oil prices following supply disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East.

In this coordinated effort, the United States is expected to contribute around 172 million barrels, while Japan will release nearly 80 million barrels. Other participating countries will also add varying amounts depending on their reserve capacity. The aim is to boost supply in the international market and help ease pressure on global fuel prices.

Although the oil will enter the international market to support global supply, each country will decide the timing of its release based on its own energy requirements. The initiative represents a collective response to maintain stability in the global energy market during a period of uncertainty.
